
Soil Testing at Nawalpur
As part of the NLRP-II program, soil testing for 72 farmers was organized in Devchuli Municipality-1 on June 12, 2025. This initiative was conducted in coordination with the Soil and Fertilizer Testing Laboratory in Pokhara. This activity aims to provide farmers with insights into the nutrient status and overall health of their farmlands. By empowering farmers with this knowledge, they can make decisions about fertilization and soil management, initially leading to improved yields and sustainable agricultural practices.

Visioning Workshop for the Agriculture Development Strategy (ADS) and Policy Formulation
On June 11, 2025, a Municipal-Level Visioning Workshop for the Agriculture Development Strategy (ADS) and Policy Formulation was organized at Baijanath Rural Municipality. More than 30 participants were engaged in the workshop, including executive members of Baijanath Rural Municipality such as the Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), and Ward Chairpersons from all wards of the municipality. This collaborative effort between Caritas Nepal and Baijanath Rural Municipality is focused on jointly drafting the Agriculture Policy and Agricultural Development Strategy for Baijanath Rural Municipality, Banke. This initiative aims to build a strong foundation for the future of agriculture in the region.

Strengthening Livelihoods of Farmers through Various Skill Development Training
A 7-day sweet making training program was conducted from May 29 to June 8, 2025. This valuable training, organized under the NLRP-II program in coordination with Christina Multi Skill Institute Pvt. Ltd., aimed to equip individuals of Panchapuri Municipality, Ward 5 and 6 in Surkhet, with new and valuable skills. A total of 10 individuals participated in the program, gaining practical skills in creating a variety of sweets. This initiative is designed to help them find new income opportunities or even start their own entrepreneurial ventures, opening doors to new possibilities for their future.
Likewise, a 5-day pickle making training was conducted from May 30 to June 3, 2025, in Nawalpur.
In a similar effort to enhance local skills and businesses, a 5-day pickle making training was held in Devchuli Municipality, Ward 1, Nawalpur, from May 30 to June 3, 2025. A total of 20 enterprise farmers, including those involved in homestays, gained valuable practical lessons. Participants learned to make pickles using locally available ingredients such as blackcurrants, mangoes, fish, and meat. In addition, they received theoretical lessons on an impressive 16 other pickle varieties, equipping them with diverse skills to expand their products.

Celebrating World Environment Day across NLRP-II Districts
Over 500 people across NLRP-II working districts came together to celebrate World Environment Day, highlighting the serious need for environmental protection. The day was celebrated with an awareness gathering, where children and community people participated, holding banners with the slogans “Putting an End to Plastic Pollution.” A plantation program was also conducted in several districts. Trees were planted in and around ward offices, cooperatives, and school premises. This initiative not only contributed to greening the local environment but also demonstrated the commitment to promote environmental protection.

Interaction Program at Child Club
On June 2, 2025, an important interaction program took place at the NLRP-II supported child club in Janacheta Secondary School (Rajapur-10 Bardiya). The event focused on Child Rights and creating a school-level Child Protection Policy. The main goals were to officially approve the school’s Child Protection Policy and to form a dedicated Child Protection Committee. A total of 37 individuals attended, including school management (SM), Parent Teacher Association (PTA) members, all school teachers, and child club members. The Child Protection Policy was officially approved by the group. To make sure this policy is put into action, a seven-member Child Protection Committee has also been formed. This is a good step towards ensuring that children at Janacheta Secondary School are safe and their rights are protected.

Stakeholder Monitoring Visit to NLRP-II Site in Banke
On June 7, 2025, a Municipality-level stakeholders monitoring visit was conducted at the NLRP-II project site in Baijanath Rural Municipality-1. The visit saw the active participation of 18 individual, including key figures, including the Vice Chairperson of Baijanath Rural Municipality, the Chief Administrative Officer, various department heads, ward chairpersons, ward members, and other essential stakeholders. During the visit, the CN team provided a brief overview of the project, sharing its key outcomes and progress. The Chisapani Cooperative supported by NLRP-II program also presented their activities and achievements. The visiting team had the opportunity to visit the Chisapani Cooperative office, the Community Seed and Food Bank, and the IPM group’s demonstration field. Stakeholders expressed their appreciation for the project’s efforts and positive results, providing valuable suggestions for further effectiveness and long-term sustainability of the program.
