Five Districts initiated IPM FFS in Paddy 

The Farmer Field Schools (FFS) initiative, part of the NLRP-II, has started in Banke, Bardiya, Jhapa, Kanchanpur, and Surkhet in this July. A total of 133 farmers is participating in a 4 to 5-month FFS focused on paddy cultivation. These training sessions aim to enhance farmers’ expertise in rice farming techniques, integrated pest management (IPM), and climate resilient practices. Participants engage in observation, experimentation, and collaborative decision making, acquiring practical skills for sustainable agriculture. 

Collaboration with CABI for Pesticide Awareness 

On 18 July, 2025, The Centre for Agriculture and Bioscience International (CABI), in collaboration with the Chitwan Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Farmers Association and with support from Caritas Nepal, organized two plant clinic and an orientation on the application of digital tools in agriculture. The event aimed to enhance farmers’ capacity in IPM and promote the adoption of digital solutions for improved crop monitoring and decision making. The program brought together 70 participants, including local farmers, cooperative members, and agricultural technicians which was organized at Bote Majhi Community Homestay. The orientation focused on identifying pest and disease problems in the field, safe use of pesticides, and practical demonstrations of digital tools for early findings of the problem and record keeping. The event was honored by the presence of Chief of the Prime Minister Modernization, Project Coordination Unit, Kawasoti, along with the Ward Chairperson, Ward Member, and representatives from the Agriculture Section.

Annual Review and Planning Network Meeting’ 

The NLRP ll conducted its ‘Annual Review and Planning Network Meeting’ from June 16 to 20, 2025, at NCRC Gaindakot. This event brought together 37  NLRP II staffs from 10 different working locations. The meeting provided an opportunity for reflection and learning, allowing staff to share best practices, challenges, and opportunities as they plan for the third year. This five day meeting included district wise presentations, sectoral and technical team meetings, followed by sectoral planning sessions within each team, and a team building cross-learning visit to nearby location to observe livestock and vegetation.
