Improved household food security from homestead production, and improved resilience from climate change.

APPROACH​ES

1. Homestead Approach

Interventions:
– Provide training to smallholder farmers in homestead farming (which include diversified kitchen gardening, poultry raising and climate adaptive practices.
– Provide inputs related to horticulture promotion (vegetables, fruits) and livestock (poultry)
– Demonstration-based learning through leader farmer: Support leader farmers to improve their homestead farming by providing technical and agro materials support. (Peer learning)

2. Farmers Field School Approach in Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and Climate Resilient Farming

Interventions: IPM
– IPM FFS with farmers and agriculture students
– Conduct Plant Clinic and animal health camp.

Interventions: Climate Change
– Farmers group review and plan for climate change actions.
– Climate adaptation and mitigation demonstration support (example: for nutrient management, water/moisture management, seed management etc.)
– On farm action research for climate change solutions (based on farmers field school approach)
– Support in establishment of multi-purpose community nursery.
– Establishment of community nurseries for vegetable and horticulture promotion.
– Link farmers with digital service provides (Geo-Krishi) for weather, market and technical information

3. Link Farmers with the local governments and stakeholders

Interventions:
– Homestead groups registered in the municipality for advocacy and resource access.
