
Homestead Management Trainings Strengthen Farmers’ Skills
A two-day homestead training was conducted from September 18 to 19, 2025, at ward No. 10, Rajapur Municipality, Bardia, in coordination with the municipality and ward office. A total of 25 participants were trained on homestead management and related concepts, facilitated by Caritas Nepal staff along with a representative from the Municipality’s Agriculture Section. Similarly, in Devchuli Municipality, ward no. 4, Nawalpur, two newly formed homestead groups: Indreni Homestead Farmers Group and Shanti Homestead Farmers Group received a three-day “Initial Homestead Management Training”. Conducted in two shifts from September 8 to 10 and September 17 to 20, the training engaged 46 members and was supported by resource persons including a Veterinarian, the Head of Devchuli Municipality Livestock Development Section, and the Assistant Agriculture Extension Officer. Likewise, a follow-up training was also conducted for the Tilakpur and Sirjanshil Homestead Farmer Groups in Surkhet to strengthen practical skills and support effective implementation of homestead practices.

Poultry and Fruit Sapling Distribution Supports Homestead Farmers in Bardia
On September 18, 2025, 350 poultry chicks were distributed to 26 members of the Homestead Group in Kalabanjar, ward no. 10, Rajapur Municipality, Bardia, in coordination with the ward office. A ward member also participated in the distribution program as a representative of the office. Also, on September 25, 2025, fruit saplings were distributed to two homestead groups Bikash Homestead Group and Geruwa Homestead Group of Rajapur Municipality, Bardia. A total of 52 members received the saplings, including Mango (26), Litchi (26), Guava (52), Lemon (26), and Moringa (26), supporting diversified homestead production and improved nutrition. On the same date, September 25, 2025, winter seasonal seeds were distributed to members of the Devi Pokhari IPM Adoption Group at Bagmati Rural Municipality, Jhagalkot, Lalitpur, to promote sustainable farming practices and enhance seasonal crop cultivation.

Refresher Training on Business Plan and Skill Development
A refresher training on business plan and skill development was provided to Namuna Enterprise Farmers’ Group in Surkhet, with the participation of 26 members (5 men and 21 women). The training aimed to strengthen farmers’ capacity in preparing and updating business plans while enhancing technical and entrepreneurial skills for managing farm-based enterprises effectively. Through practical sessions and group discussions, participants reviewed their existing practices, identified challenges, and developed strategies to improve production, record-keeping, and market linkages.

Planning for Progress: Annual Review Meetings of NLRP-II Cooperatives
Several cooperatives under NLRP-II conducted their Annual Planning and Review Meetings in September 2025. Chisapani Agriculture Cooperative in Banke, Divyajyoti Agriculture Cooperative in Nawalpur and Juneli Women Agriculture Cooperative in Kanchanpur, held their annual meetings to monitor and update the progress and plan for the upcoming year. A total of 40 participants (37 female and 3 male), including members of the Executive Committees and cooperative staff, actively contributed to the development of the cooperatives’ work plans, ensuring member participation in strategic planning and strengthening cooperative development.

Orientation on Cooperative Service to members of Aguwa Cooperative, Bardia
An orientation on cooperative services was conducted at Aguwa Agriculture Cooperative Ltd., Rajapur Municipality, Bardia, on September 25, 2025. The activity aimed to raise awareness among community members about cooperative services, strategies to increase membership, and ways to support marginalized and local people. A total of 26 participants (1 male and 25 females) actively took part in the session, enhancing their understanding of cooperative service and community engagement.

Child Club Formations/Reformations Meetings
On September 4, 2025, meetings for the formation and reformation of child clubs were conducted in multiple locations under NLRP-II. In Laljhadi-2, Kanchanpur, 54 participants, including teachers, parents, and child club members, attended the session. Similarly, a child club reformation and management orientation program was held at Shanti Srijana Basic School, Devchuli-4, Jhakre, Nawalparasi East, to strengthen club activities and capacity. Additionally, a child club formation and annual planning program was conducted at Bidya Jyoti Secondary School, Ward No. 5, Surkhet. These initiatives aim to promote active participation of members along with the teacher, and enhance the management and sustainability of child clubs.

Engaging Students in Child Right Awareness Activities
On September 5, 2025, a poetry competition on the theme “child rights” was organized by the Janachetana child club of Shree Janachetana secondary school, Mangalpur, Rajapur-10, Bardia, to promote awareness of child rights through poetry. The competition was conducted at three levels: primary, lower secondary, and secondary with 54 students participating. Prizes were awarded to winners to recognize and encourage their creativity. On September 14, the school also celebrated the 61st National Children’s Day, where students from all levels actively participated in an open poetry competition with 43 participants. Prizes and appreciation awards were distributed to motivate and recognize the students’ efforts. Similarly, Shree Nepal Rastriya Pipal Secondary School in Chipin, Dailekh, celebrated the day by engaging students in a quiz competition attended by 50 students, further promoting awareness and active participation among young learners.

Formation of Project Advisory Commitee Across New Locations of NLRPP-II
As the NLRP-II program enters its third year and expands to new locations, a Project Advisory Committee formation meeting was held on September 18, 2025, in Lalitpur and at Banke (Baijanath Rural Municipality Ward No. 4) office. The event marked both the official launch of Year 3 activities and the establishment of an 11-member advisory committee under the chairmanship of the Ward Chair. The committee discussed and decided on the selection of schools and cooperatives, identified a suitable area for forming a homestead group in the ward, and recommended possible candidates for Human Right Defender (HRD). Alongside Lalitpur and Banke, similar advisory committee formation meetings will also be conducted in the other eight new locations, ensuring local ownership, participatory decision-making, and effective implementation of project activities across all program areas.

Coordination Meetings with Local Stakeholders
In various locations under NLRP-II, coordination meetings were conducted at both ward and municipal levels during September. A ward level coordination meeting with stakeholders was organized at Rajapur Municipality, Ward No. 10, Bardiya, while another was held in Lalitpur, where the GEDIS policy was formally handed over to the Chairman of Bagmati. Likewise, Bhagawatimai Rural Municipality in Dailekh organized a coordination meeting with the active participation of the rural municipality’s Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Chief Administrative Officer, Ward Chairpersons, SOSEC Nepal board members, Executive Director, HR and Finance teams, as well as cooperative chairpersons and managers, where the third year budget and objectives were presented and discussed with a total of 40 participants. Furthermore, a municipality level coordination meeting was conducted in Surkhet and Jhapa to strengthen collaboration and review program progress. These coordination meetings aim to build stronger partnerships, ensure accountability, and align local stakeholders toward achieving the goals of the NLRP-II program.
