
NLRP II Organized Module 2 training of Plant Clinic at Pokhara and Plant clinics in Various Locations
The Plant Clinic Module 2 training was conducted from March 31st to April 3rd at the Center Agribusiness Promotion Support and Training (ABPSTC) in Pokhara, Kaski. Led by the Chief of the Plant Protection Laboratory in Pokhara, this training includes 20 participants, of whom 6 are female, representing local government, agriculture university students, CN and local partners staffs. Building on Module 1, this program focuses on advanced techniques, integrated pest management strategies, and practical applications, with an emphasis on hands-on experience to enhance the capacity to address plant health challenges and promote sustainable agricultural productivity.
Additionally, Plant Clinics were organized in Jhapa, Banke and Nawalpur in April, with a total of 119 farmers participating. In Banke, 74 plant samples including cucumber, pumpkin, mango, banana, brinjal, maize etc. were examined. In Nawalpur, the clinic was facilitated by an agriculture expert of the Devchuli Municipality Agriculture Section, who worked with farmers to identify crop-related problems and provide recommendations. As part of the initiative, yellow traps, bacteria, lures, jars, and neem oil were also distributed in Nawalpur to support integrated pest and disease management.

Pesticide Testing and Farmer Support in Devchuli Municipality ,Nawalpur
On April 8, 2025, Caritas Nepal in collaboration with Devchuli Municipality completed the collection of samples to test pesticide levels at Keureni Haat Bazaar and local retail vegetable shops in ward no. 1 of Devchuli Municipality, Nawalpur. Samples were collected from 12 sellers where 11 types of vegetables: sponge gourd, spinach, okra, cowpea, tomato, cauliflower, bitter gourd, cucumber, brinjal, capsicum, and watermelon were tested. The event was attended by the Chief Administrative Officer, Head of the Agriculture Department, Head of Economic Development Division, Ward Chairperson, Chairperson of Market Management Committee, local consumers, and the NLRP team from Caritas Nepal. The result showed that vegetables were consumables as the inhibition percentage was lower than 35%. Additionally, FAW lure and vermin compost were also provided to homestead and leader farmers.

Animal Health Camps Held in Jhapa and Kaski
A three-day Animal Health Camp in Kankai, Jhapa was conducted where 124 people participated, including program participants and community members. Additionally, a one-day Animal Health Camp was organized by Needs Nepal in collaboration with Animal Development Branch in Ward No. 2 of Kanja, Laljhadi Village Municipality, Kanchanpur, where 99 farmers received treatment for their livestock.

Enhancing Agricultural Practices with Digitial Technology (Geo-Krishi)
Training on the operation of the Geo-Krishi mobile application was conducted in Banke and Lalitpur, respectively. A total of 20 participants from Baijanath RM-01 and 26 participants from Bagmati Rural Municipality took part in the training. The main objective of the program was to enhance the farmers’ capacity in utilizing digital tools for modern and efficient agricultural practices. Participants were introduced to the features and functions of the Geo-Krishi app by a technician from Geo-Krishi.

NLRP-II Organized National level Cooperative Account Keeping Training for Staff
A five-day “Cooperative Account Keeping Training” was conducted at the NCRC in Gaidakot, Nawalparasi, from April 23rd to 27th, 2025, under NLRP-II. The training saw participation from 24 individuals representing 18 cooperatives across the region. This diverse group included managers, staff, committee leaders, and account committee members. The training aimed to strengthen the financial management capabilities of the participating cooperatives, equipping them with essential skills for transparent account keeping.

NLRP-II Conducts Policy and Planning (3P) Training for Enhanced Program Delivery
NLRP-II organized the “PEARLS, Policy and Planning (3P) Training” from April 28 to 30, 2025, at the NCRC in Gaidakot, Nawalparasi. This three-day program brought together 26 participants, including cooperative managers from 14 cooperatives across the regions and staff from Caritas Nepal. The 3P training aims to provide a consistent framework for analyzing financial performance across different credit unions, facilitating comparisons and benchmarking, while also enhancing policy understanding and planning skills among program implementers and partner.

Orientation and Interaction Program on Judicial Proceedings for Local Judicial Committees
On April 11th and 12th, 2025, an “Orientation and Interaction Program on Judicial Proceedings for Local Judicial Committees” was held in collaboration with Baijanath Rural Municipality. A total of 41 representatives participated, including staff and members of the local judicial committee from Banke, as well as the Ward Chairperson and Coordinator of the Mediation Center of Baijanath RM. The training was facilitated by the law personnel: Judge of Banke District Court and Senior Advocates. The sessions aimed to enhance understanding of the roles, responsibilities, and procedures of local judicial committees. It featured in-depth discussions on mediation processes, the legal principles relevant to justice delivery at the local level, and the challenges faced during mediation, along with practical solutions. Participants engaged in meaningful exchanges of experiences and gained valuable insights to strengthen their capacity to handle judicial matters effectively and fairly.
Similarly, in Bardia, an “Experience-Sharing Meeting” was held at Rajapur Municipality, organized with the support of Rajapur Municipality and Caritas Nepal. During the meeting, mediators discussed the cases they had resolved and the challenges they encountered in the judicial process. Caritas Nepal provided an orientation on “Gender-Based Violence and the Legal Process” for both the mediators and members of the judicial committee. A total of 27 mediators, including judicial committee members, attended the meeting.

Street Drama conducted for Social Awareness in Bardia and Surkhet
As part of the awareness initiative under NLRP II, a street drama was conducted in Bardia and Surkhet. In Bardia, a collaborative effort involving Rajapur Municipality, the Ward Office, R. K. J. S., Plan International, and Caritas Nepal organized a street play exhibition on “Child Marriage Reduction, Drug Addiction, and Psychosocial Counseling” in 12 villages within the ward. The program was attended by all ward members, including the ward chairperson, representatives from Caritas Nepal, police station representatives, village elders, and community members. School-level children’s club members, ward children’s network members, women’s network members, and youth performed impactful plays filled with important messages. Similarly, in Surkhet, members of the Children’s Network presented a street play addressing social evils, organized by the ward-level Children’s Network.
